I am a dedicated counselor, student advocate, and educator who believes in empowering all students to harness their strengths, foster personal growth, and realize their full potential. Over the past twelve years, my commitment to adolescents' futures and well-being has driven me to facilitate their journey through collaboration, compassion & empathy. HERE
My journey in education started as a German Teacher in the United Kingdom in 2008. I had the privilege of teaching at a middle school in Manchester, England, where the challenges only fueled my determination to make a meaningful impact on a child's life. During my two-year tenure, I actively engaged in our Math and English after school tutorial program, while extending my support to mentor trainee teachers as well.
After this enriching experience, an opportunity arose to become a German teacher at an international school in Switzerland. My husband and I embraced this new chapter in our lives, marking our entry into the realm of international education. What initially started as a teaching role swiftly evolved into leadership as I assumed the position of grade level leader for grade 11. Two more years down the line, and due to my involvement in our pastoral care and Personal, Social and Health program, I was asked to become a college counselor at the school. I seized the opportunity, and within a year, I was wholeheartedly invested in my newfound role.
Following nine remarkable years in Switzerland, and completing my UCLA College Counseling Certification, our family was ready for the next big adventure. I assumed the role of lead college counselor at a school in Qatar, concurrently intensifying my interest in supporting students on their social and emotional journeys through high school. This commitment led me to pursue a Master's in Education program in Guidance and Counseling, with an expected graduation date in early 2025.
Towards the close of 2021, our family prepared for a move to a medium-sized American school in Shanghai. However, the Covid pandemic thwarted our physical relocation plans, compelling us to adapt to a year of exclusive online work with the school. Subsequently, we decided it was time for a new chapter.
Since the start of 2022, I have had the privilege of serving as the high school counselor at a small IB school in Southern Germany. In this multifaceted role, I act as the college counselor for grade 9-12, provide social and emotional support to grade 11-12 students, and contribute as the PSHE teacher and curriculum developer for grade 8-12.
My husband, Stuart Bailey, more commonly known as Jeff, is an experienced Educational Technology Coordinator/Coach, Elementary School Teacher and a founding member Shanghai American School's Innovation Institute.
